Travel insurance if you have haemophilia
Our specialist travel insurance can often include haemophilia.
We receive referrals from many hospitals, doctors and medical charities throughout the UK.
Please note: if you are also HIV+, please go to our special HIV web site (www.hivtravelinsurance.com).
What are the travel insurance implications if I have haemophilia?
Our policy provides your with comprehensive cover, including claims for cancellation, medical expenses, curtailment, loss or theft of baggage etc. A full summary can be seen by clicking the Our Insurance tab above.
Having haemophilia can sometimes mean that urgent medical attention is required. ‘Ordinary’ travel insurance is usually not designed to provide cover for claims related to a pre-existing medical condition (one that was present when insurance was taken out).
Once you’ve gone through our medical screening process and we’ve agreed to cover your haemophilia, medical expense claims related to it will be met. This could include doctors’ and hospitals’ fees, treatments, medication and, if necessary, the cost of an air ambulance. This is vitally important if you are somewhere remote or need to be transported urgently to a suitable medical facility. If you’re not insured under a specialist policy such as ours, this could easily run into thousands of pounds!
If someone is travelling with you
It is highly recommended that anyone travelling with you is covered by our policy so that they can make a that could be in any way regarded as linked to your haemophilia. An ‘ordinary’ travel insurance could well decline their claim on the same grounds as they might decline a claim made by you.
In our opinion, no one should take the risk of travelling without a specialist travel insurance that includes haemophilia.
